Coronavirus Statement

As an organization that brings community together at events, #movethedial is heeding recommendations from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) as it relates to the COVID-19.

At this time, the PHAC has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as “low for the general population in Canada but this could change rapidly.” However, with Wednesday’s news that the World Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic, and the March 12th Ontario school closure announcements, we have determined a prudent response on our part is to help reduce the potential community spread of the virus.

As such, #movethedial has made the difficult decision to postpone our in-person events for the foreseeable future. This important step prioritizes the health of our team, partners, and community.

As an organization, we recognize the tremendous benefit that our community receives through the events we host. With this in mind, we are excited to share with you how we have re-imagined our approach to engaging our community, providing substantive learning, bringing our network together, and inspiring our stakeholders in innovative ways. Using the myriad technologies available, we will be hosting virtual events in collaboration with our partners. This is not only a responsible way to continue our mission of advancing all women in technology, but it also enables us to continue to connect you with our robust and growing community.

The first of these opportunities is a six-part webinar series on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training that we are launching in partnership with Feminuity. You will be receiving the invitation separately and hope you will take the opportunity to participate. Stay tuned for many more opportunities to engage with our community virtually.

To ensure the continued delivery of our services while putting the health and safety of our employees and their families, partners, suppliers, and our community first, #movethedial has also shifted to a Work From Home model. Effective immediately, our entire team will be operating virtually.

While #movethedial is a small company, we believe we have a responsibility to protect the health and wellbeing of those who are vulnerable and most at risk in our community (i.e., older adults and those who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease, and are immunocompromised). With our approach to social distancing, our hope is that we can play a role in reducing community transmission of COVID-19.

Please reach out to our team if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Jodi Kovitz Founder & CEO #movethedial
