VP of Operations

The Opportunity

Being the second in command at #movethedial, the VP Operations will work very closely with the CEO and will oversee all day to day operations including HR, Finance, Marketing, and Events. You will be a thought partner to the CEO, and together set the strategy and the direction of the company. You are an analytical thinker, problem solver, and highly strategic in the way you execute. You have experience managing direct reports with professionalism and a positive attitude. You enjoy wearing multiple hats and have experience working in a high growth environment. As an advisor to the CEO, you are a strategic thinker who is comfortable with hands on execution as the company scales. There will be opportunity for advancement to COO.


Strategic Initiatives

  • Work closely with the CEO on company strategy and priorities

  • Scale company effectively and in a cost efficient manner

  • You will be responsible for ensuring that the growth of the company is managed with operational rigour

  • Develop annual strategic plan including setting KPIs and goals annually

  • Build the operational processes and structure as the company scales

  • Be strategic in developing high impact programs to drive growth

  • Manage / Coach / Lead / Inspire manager level direct reports


  • Align the team on key deliverables, drive productivity and ensure team execution

  • Oversee 4 direct reports immediately (this will quickly grow to over 10)

  • Project manage key initiatives including:

    • Launching new revenue generating services

      • Producing diversity and inclusion annual reports working with partners

      • Global summit with 10+ founding partners


  • Oversee marketing, PR and brand budget

  • Be the key liaison with brand/marketing agency including managing scope, setting priorities, and ensure the quality of the deliverables


  • Manage the relationship with external accountant to deliver monthly financial statements to the CEO and investor

  • Manage the banking relationship

  • Drive annual budgeting process working with external partner

  • Oversee business analytics, reporting and progress dashboards


  • Manage the entire life cycle of employee experience - ie. recruitment, scaling the team, on-boarding, benefits, employee satisfaction and engagement


  • Prior Experience working in an Operations Management role at a high growth technology company / early stage company / start up, or prior experience as a General Manager / Executive Director / Managing Director

  • 10+ years of experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibilities within operations

  • Professional background is an asset, but not required. Ie. LLB, CPA (CA, CMA, CGA), CFA

  • A degree in finance/commerce/business or an MBA is an asset, but not required

  • Business development experience is considered an asset

  • Experience managing teams (minimum of 4-6 direct reports)

  • You have experience successfully managing large and complex projects with numerous stakeholders, clients, partners and moving pieces

  • You have prior experience working at a company that is scaling fast

  • You thrive in a fast paced environment
